Which foods should one eat more of in hot weather?
Eating foods with high water content not only helps your body meet its fluid needs, but also contributes toward ensuring a sufficient amount of nutrients are consumed.
Try salads with dark green, leafy vegetables such as rocket, sorrel, watercress and lettuce, topped with tomatoes, cucumbers, green and red peppers and other raw vegetables
Eat more milk and dairy products including yogurt, ayran and cacık
Choose vegetables such as string beans, zucchini, and eggplant cooked with olive oil
Select fruit and vegetables with a high water content such as cherries, watermelons, melons, peaches, and cucumbers
Enjoy milk-based desserts such as ice cream
Replace fried vegetables and meats with grilled, boiled or baked alternatives
If you don’t have much of an appetite, eat nuts such as hazelnuts, walnuts, almonds, and whole-grain biscuits and crackers. You can pair them with ayran, yogurt or cheese. Alternatively, reduce your portions but eat more often.
