Less than 1 % of adult body is composed by carbohydrates. Carbohydrates’main function is to provide energy. Carbohydrates provide 50% of daily energy requirement. Carbohydrates are stored as glycogen in little amounts and in case of necessity it is broken down to glucose. Glycogen is available in liver mostly. Glycogen is required for keeping specific level of blood glucose that is an energy source for body tissues especially for brain.
