This event was part of the international series of Hidden Hunger Congresses, which started in 2013. At the First Hidden Hunger Congress, the causes, consequences, and possible solutions of this issue were discussed. The Second Hidden Hunger Congress, held in 2015, addressed the specific problem of hidden hunger during pregnancy and the first years of a child’s life. The repercussions of hidden hunger for a child’s development and the resultant increased risk in maternal mortality were also examined.
The Third Hidden Hunger Congress, held on March 20–22, 2017, in Stuttgart, Germany, evaluated how far the agenda, programs, and measures adopted at the 2015 convention for the purpose of fighting against world famine and poverty had already been implemented. Politicians, food industry representatives, and representatives from civil society participated in the event and took part in debates. Also presented at the convention were successfully established projects and initiatives, such as the “One World – No Hunger” project of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
