The convention, organized by the Turkish Obesity Research Association and the Turkish Diabetes and Obesity Foundation, was held in Istanbul between December 9 and 11, and was attended by academics and professionals from the fields of nutrition, medicine, and other health sciences. The Sabri Ülker Foundation also participated in the congress, closely monitoring developments and sharing the results of its Balanced Nutrition Education Project Food Consumption Frequency Research. These activities are consistent with its mission to bring up-to-date and accurate information on foods, nutrition, and health to the public.
In a satellite symposium hosted by the Sabri Ülker Foundation, the results of the Food Consumption Frequency Research were presented by Assoc. Prof. Reci Meseri, Ph.D., Head of the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at Ege University. This study formed part of the Balanced Nutrition Education project, carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of National Education, and Dr. Meseri also participated in field research for the initiative. In light of the results from the Food Consumption Frequency Research, it was once again underlined that adequate and balanced eating habits encouraged through nutrition education in the early years of life can be effective in preventing obesity at a later age.
