2016 Balanced Nutrition Workshop Final Declaration:
“NUTRITION EDUCATION SHOULD START IN EARLY CHILDHOOD”The significance of adequate and balanced nutrition, as well as physical activity for a healthy life is indisputable. We must sow the seeds of nutrition education at an early age in order to make positive lifestyle habits permanent and in order to raise healthy generations. Proposals, guidelines and strategies continue to be developed both in our country and around the world.
The Childhood Overweight and Obesity Prevention Council, commissioned by the WHO, has prepared a report emphasizing the importance of cooperation between legislators, NGOs, universities, scientists and industry as a whole.
We at the Sabri Ülker Food Research Foundation aspire to create awareness of the importance of adequate and balanced nutrition as well as physical activity during childhood. This has been the theme of the “Balanced Nutrition Workshop,” which has been organized together with the British Nutrition Foundation (BNF) and Toegepast Natuurwetenschappelijk Onderzoek (TNO). In order to raise awareness, we now invite all stakeholders, NGOs, government agencies, scientists and universities to do the following:
By implementing these points we will inform the public and thus improve public health.
